From Soja to Sasaoki and from Mizushima to Kojima
Last Sunday, I went to a hardware store in Soja, Okayama, in search of something specific.
Although this store is part of a chain and there are some in Kurashiki where our company is located, the closest one in terms of distance is in Soja. So whenever I need work-related tools, I always purchase them from this store.
However, the item I was looking for wasn’t available at that store. I then went to the Sasaoki store in Kurashiki, which is the next closest, but it wasn’t there either. Next, I visited the Mizushima store, but again, I couldn’t find it. Feeling somewhat resigned, I decided that if I didn’t find it there, I would give up and headed to the Kojima store. Finally, I found the item I was looking for at the Kojima store.
The relief of finally finding it and the somewhat exhausted journey from Soja to Kojima had me feeling a bit worn out. When I left the Kojima store, instead of being in a snowy landscape, I was greeted with a beautiful blue sea—the Seto Inland Sea—stretching out before me.
It was Kotohira Port (Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama).
When I saw the sea, all fatigue vanished, and I took out my camera from the car.
Despite it being February, the day was remarkably warm, with a spring-like sunshine. To the west, I could see Mt. Washu, to the east, Mt. Oujigatake in Tamano, and to the south, across the Seto Inland Sea, I could see mountains in Kagawa and the industrial zone of Bannosu in Sakaide.
Somehow, the item I bought became secondary. It felt like I was guided here by someone to see this sea and take photos.
Nevertheless, the sea on this day was more beautiful than usual.
My Work, Website, and Blog
My work blurs the line between work and personal life. For me, web and design work isn’t confined to the desk; it’s about learning from everyday life and nature, and applying those lessons to my job as a designer—it’s both expected and ideal for me.
Writing blog posts about even the slightest work-related events on weekends, like photography this time, can help people understand AEDI, a web and graphic design company, in a way.
It’s not 100% work-related, but when we want people to know about topics even tangentially related to my work, we write a blog post. We write freely without being bound by the format of social media. We include photos, drawings, illustrations, and videos. Having a blog function on the website has its benefits in situations like this.
