A Report from a Client

A Report from a Client - Kurashiki City, Okayama

We recently visited the office of a client in Kurashiki, Okayama. During our meeting, they reported, “Since the creation of our website, our sales have significantly increased (I’ll refrain from specifying the exact figures). We’re receiving an incredible number of inquiries through our website.”

Our company has been involved in the creation of their website, designing their logo, and branding their brand message. Hearing such feedback is truly gratifying for someone in the web and design industry like me.

Initially, we built a static website without using a CMS. However, due to their desire to showcase more of the company’s activities on the website, we rebuilt it using WordPress. The new website allows the client to manage and update their blog and announcements, making it a dynamic platform. It has been approximately one year since the overhaul, and it seems that the results are undeniably reflected in improved SEO and increased sales.

9 Years in Okayama After Moving Our Base from Tokyo – Learning from Nature

This client holds a special place in our hearts because we shifted our headquarters from Shinjuku, Tokyo to Kurashiki, Okayama in November 2014, and shortly after the move, the client reached out to us. When we initially designed their website, we were deeply invested in their success. Fast forward to October 2023, and after 9 years of operating from Kurashiki, we’ve received fantastic feedback regarding the client’s website performance, which fills us with joy.

The 9 years in Okayama have passed in the blink of an eye. During the time when AEDI was based in Tokyo (actually, around June 2007, while I was still part of the Sanix rugby team, handling their website), it greatly surpassed the six years from January 2008 to November 2014. Tokyo remains a beloved place, with countless charms, and if it were possible, I’d consider it a second operating base (though dreaming of expanding to Wakayama, Shimane, Hiroshima, Melbourne, or Sydney isn’t far-fetched). Personally, I find Okayama’s allure to exceed that.

It’s the natural environment.

9 Years in Okayama After Moving Our Base from Tokyo - Learning from Nature - Mt. Shimo-Hiruzen, Okayama

Okayama is a nature-rich area surrounded by the sea and mountains. The nearby countryside provides daily refreshments. With neighboring Hiroshima, Tottori, Hyogo, Kagawa, and a car at your disposal, you can enjoy nature in abundance. As someone who enjoys hiking and mountain adventures, I’ve realized the wealth of inspiration that nature provides for design and work, from the sounds of nature to the scents of the mountains, the play of light in the forests, the calls of birds, the babbling of streams, and the forms of plants and insects.

Note: The details around here have been compiled in the AEDI Inc. Company Profile 2024 Brochure – Simplified Version, titled ‘Learning from Nature in Okayama.’

It’s not that Tokyo lacks natural beauty; on my days off, I often went hiking on Mt. Takao. However, our living space and AEDI’s office were located in Haraikatamachi, Shinjuku, which can be considered the “hub” of Tokyo. Therefore, we predominantly used trains for transportation. Numerous train stations were in close proximity, including Iidabashi Station, Ichigaya Station, Ushigome Kagurazaka Station, and Kagurazaka Station, making it convenient to get around. I never really had the desire to own a car.

In September, we were finally able to renew our website. As mentioned in our previous blog, it feels like we’ve finally reached the starting line.

Hmm? The starting line? So, that means we’re at the beginning now. In that case, what’s our finish line, and where is it? I believe these are the questions to consider.

Finally, a quote from Queen Elizabeth II.

“It’s worth remembering that it is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change.”
