Mini Blog: Writing with Coffee

On March 20, 2024, the day of the spring equinox, Kurashiki experienced stormy spring weather.

Amidst this weather, I decided to casually jot down some thoughts about work and created a new mini blog site.

The site is titled “Writing with Coffee.”

The concept is more like a mini blog, resembling Twitter but with longer posts. It can be as short as 140 characters or as long as a few pages, allowing me to freely write about web, design, and other work-related topics while enjoying a cup of coffee. The blog is text-based and built on WordPress for ease of use.

I utilized a domain that we had previously registered but not used, and for the theme, I opted for the default WordPress theme (Twenty Twenty-Three) for now.

While we custom-build themes from scratch for client WordPress websites, for this site, which is neither client work nor a corporate site, I chose to use the readily available Twenty Twenty-Three theme.

Using an existing theme has its benefits. It not only quickly polishes the appearance of the site but also includes functionalities that are not often used, which can be a great learning experience for someone like me who usually creates custom themes. If these functionalities prove useful, I can incorporate them into future custom themes.

However, when it comes to creating WordPress websites for clients, we must cater to their specific requests. To create a website that reflects the client’s needs in terms of design and functionality, creating a custom theme is undoubtedly preferable. Additionally, from the perspective of scalability, a custom theme offers more freedom for expansion compared to using an existing theme for a WordPress site.

This mini blog serves not only as a draft space and repository for AEDI’s blog but also as an alternative to the old Twitter, a brainstorming platform for work-related ideas, and a tool for organizing my thoughts.
