In the Blue Breeze: Tamashima, Kurashiki, Okayama

This morning, I visited a place I often go to—well, occasionally.
It’s the kind of place I find myself drawn to whenever I’m feeling busy or mentally stuck with work.
Saying something like “at twilight…” might sound poetic, but in truth, it’s just a place I visit to zone out.
And that’s exactly what makes it such a wonderfully refreshing experience for me.
The location is Tamashima, in Kurashiki, Okayama.
Tamashima is quite a large area—in this case, I mean the seaside parts like Otoshima, Kashiwajima, and Kurosaki.
Our company, AEDI, is also based in Kurashiki, but Tamashima is a bit farther out—definitely not within walking distance—so I usually drive there.
That said, it’s not a place I visit frequently.
But when I simply have to see the ocean, I don’t hesitate.
It’s best on sunny days, of course, but even on rainy ones, if the mood strikes, I’ll head out.
Since yesterday, I’d been checking the weather forecast over and over, and this morning, before work, I made a quick trip out there.
It was a crisp, dry, sunny day—just before the start of the rainy season.
I also took some photos, so please feel free to take a look.
They were all taken this very morning.
Even though I go there just to clear my mind, it’s also a location I sometimes use for photo shoots in my work—so in that sense, it’s a very important place to me.
Doing nothing in particular.
Just watching the ocean.
Feeling the sea breeze.
Listening to the sound of the waves.
That alone is enough.
This morning’s visit was before work, but it’s also a wonderful place to go in the late afternoon, after work.
Naturally, with camera in hand.

By the way, the title of this post, “In the Blue Breeze – Tamashima, Kurashiki, Okayama”, is a tribute to a piece I published about a year ago titled “In the Green Breeze: Sakazu, Kurashiki, Okayama.”
